UNDP Digital Transformation Internship: Global Call for 2025 (Home Based)

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has opened applications for its 2025 Digital Transformation Internship Programme, offering motivated students and recent graduates an opportunity to contribute to one of the world’s most ambitious global digital transformation efforts. A Unique Opportunity for Global Impact

Interns will support a wide range of areas, depending on their interest and expertise, including but not limited to:

1. Inclusive Digital Ecosystems

Interns will help shape local and national digital ecosystems with a focus on equity and human rights. Activities may include conducting research on digital inclusion, ethical AI, and digital public goods, as well as supporting the implementation of secure and inclusive digital public infrastructures.

2. Country Support & Capacity Building

Interns may assist with digital and AI readiness assessments in UNDP Country Offices, help develop national digital and data governance frameworks, and work on projects promoting green computing, AI ethics, and capacity building for governments.

3. Digital Strategy Implementation

Interns will also support the implementation of the UNDP Digital Strategy by assisting in internal coordination, data analysis, and content management. This includes supporting the Chief Digital Officer with speeches, briefs, and reports, and monitoring the organization’s progress toward digital transformation.

4. Operations and Business Processes

Those with an interest in internal operations will gain hands-on experience in finance, procurement, and project management. Tasks may include supporting recruitment processes, helping organize meetings and events, and identifying ways to streamline operations.

5. Partnerships and Strategic Communications

Interns may contribute to building strategic partnerships with tech companies, foundations, and international organizations. This includes research, proposal writing, drafting MoUs, organizing events, and supporting UNDP’s external digital communications through social media, blogs, and newsletters.

6. Digital Product Development

For those interested in technology and design, there is an opportunity to work on developing digital platforms, web apps, and AI tools that support UNDP’s mission. This includes involvement in product design, user testing, implementation, and client engagement.

7. Change Management and Internal Communications

Interns may support internal initiatives to manage digital communities of practice, track progress on digital goals, and create engaging internal communications such as knowledge products and email campaigns.

Who Can Apply Digital Transformation Internship?

UNDP is looking for students or recent graduates who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master’s level or higher),
  • In the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree program,
  • Recently graduated and available to begin their internship within a year of graduation.

An interest in digital transformation, innovation, governance, and development is highly desirable. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively, and comfortable navigating complex, high-pressure environments. Strong communication skills and adaptability are also important.

Internship Conditions

Internships can be full-time or part-time, and remote arrangements are possible. Interns are eligible for a monthly stipend, adjusted according to the duty station or work arrangement. However, all other costs related to the internship (e.g., travel, accommodation, health insurance) must be covered by the intern or their sponsors.
