
United Nations Opens Vacancy: Programme Management Assistant (G4) In Santiago
The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has announced a new temporary job opening for the position of Programme Management Assistant (G4), based in Santiago, Chile. Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of the Division and direct guidance from the Legal Officer, the Programme Management Assistant will take on a variety of administrative and programme-support tasks. Core responsibilities include:
- Project and Administrative Support: Handling a full range of project management and administrative duties to ensure effective implementation of Secretariat activities.
- Consultant Management: Assisting in the recruitment, monitoring, and coordination of consultants and contractors, including processing payments and liaising with HR and financial services.
- Event Coordination: Supporting the organization of meetings, conferences, and seminars, including travel arrangements for staff, experts, and participants.
- Information Management: Compiling research and reference materials, managing files and databases, and ensuring proper formatting, translation, and publication of documents.
- Financial Monitoring: Tracking expenditures and allotments using Umoja, the UN’s ERP system, to ensure financial accountability.
- Communications: Drafting and responding to official correspondence, preparing presentation materials, and maintaining updated schedules and calendars.
These duties collectively support the Secretariat’s mission of fostering greater transparency and environmental justice in the region.
Required Competencies

Education and Work Experience
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional studies in law or related fields are desirable.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of professional experience in project management, office support, or related areas is required.
- The requirement is reduced to 1 year for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher.
- Experience in document management and working in an international organization is required.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP (Umoja) and experience with data analytics or GDoc is desirable.
Language Requirements
As ECLAC operates in a multilingual environment, applicants must be fluent in Spanish and have a working knowledge of English.
Contract Details and Recruitment Conditions
- This is a temporary position, available until September 2026, subject to funding.
- Recruitment for General Service positions is conducted locally, meaning candidates must already be authorized to work in Chile or within commuting distance of Santiago.
