2025 Remote Consultant Opportunities With UNITAID: Apply Now!

Remote Consultant Opportunities With UNITAID: The global health landscape is evolving rapidly, shaped by urgent lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuing need for stronger, more resilient supply chains. For many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), dependence on imported medicines, diagnostics, and other essential health products has left them vulnerable to disruptions.

Recognizing this critical gap, Unitaid, a partnership hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), is spearheading its Regional Manufacturing for Equitable Access (RMEA) initiative. To advance this mission, Unitaid is recruiting a Consultant – Regional Manufacturing for Equitable Access, an 11-month, home-based consultancy with a global scope and impact.

About Unitaid and the RMEA Initiative

Unitaid has long been at the forefront of accelerating access to innovative health products, with a focus on HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and women’s and children’s health. By creating systemic conditions for sustainable and equitable access, the organization works to ensure that health innovations are not only developed but also reach the people and communities that need them most.

The RMEA initiative builds on this mission by promoting regional production capacities in LMICs, starting with Africa. Its first phase aims to strengthen local manufacturing industries for critical health commodities, reducing dependency on imports while enhancing affordability, availability, and quality. Building on successes in Africa, Unitaid envisions expanding these efforts to Latin America and other underserved regions in future phases.

Through collaboration platforms like the Industry Engagement Forum (IEF), Unitaid fosters dialogue among manufacturers, policymakers, and stakeholders to address market barriers and enable innovation. The consultant will play a pivotal role in ensuring these conversations translate into tangible outcomes.
