Format & Start

Interns can work remotely, though some flexibility is needed to overlap with UK working hours in alignment with the London-based EOF team. Unfortunately, UNICEF cannot currently sponsor visas; applicants must already have legal work authorization where required.

Compensation

A location-based monthly stipend is provided—approximately USD 1,700 per month in cities like New York, Geneva, or Copenhagen, or a value equivalent to 70% of the GS-3 Step 1 salary in other locations.

3. Core Responsibilities & Tools

Data Management

Onboard and structure large datasets into Azure, centralizing data frameworks for robust analysis .
Ensure secure and well-documented access to data via permissions management.
Utilize tools like Jira and Confluence to track onboarding workflows, preserve institutional memory, and minimize redundancy.

AI-Driven Analytics

Clean and analyze datasets using Python, Azure, and Databricks environments.
Assist in building AI tools, such as chatbots, to accelerate cost data analysis and streamline program design.
Develop predictive models to forecast program impact and return on investment (ROI) using EOF, UNICEF, and publicly available data.

Data Visualization & Engagement

Design and refine dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, enhancing accessibility and public engagement with the data.
Support academic and external collaboration via a dataset request portal that bridges research and policy audiences

4. Who Should Apply: Qualifications & Characteristics

Essential Criteria

Must be at least 18 years old, currently enrolled in, or recently graduated (within two years) from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program
Exhibit outstanding academic performance.
Fluent in English.
Must not have immediate family members working in UNICEF or within the line of authority to avoid conflicts of interest.

Strongly Preferred Backgrounds

Degree fields: Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, or related disciplines

Practical exposure to Python, data visualization, Azure, or AI/ML tools is a significant advantage
